Kevin Smith, m.d.

Dr. Smith has been a Board Certified Diagnostic Radiologist for 22 years and 18 of those as a partner with Regional Diagnostic Radiology, a private practice group of 18 Radiologists covering Central MN. He has a BA in English from St John’s University in Collegeville, MN and his medical degree from the University of MN. Dr Smith did his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Smith had a mini-fellowship in MSK MRI with Proscan Imaging in Cincinnati, OH. Dr. Smith has special interest in Musculoskeletal Imaging, Image-guided pain management, biopsies, vascular access, and drain placements, as well as breast imaging.

In addition to his clinical and diagnostic skills, he has been a medical staff leader for many of the hospitals his group covers including Chief of Staff, Credentials Chair, Vice-Chair and Chair of Radiology for St. Cloud Hospital, and Medical Director at various times for all 9 hospitals that RDR covers.

He also has been very active in the political and economic interests of Medicine as the Vice President of the Resident Section of the Milwaukee Medical Society, President of the Stearns Benton County Medical Society, and Councilor, Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the MN Radiological Society. Lastly, he has been a Councilor to the American Board of Radiology and has served on its prestigious Council Steering Committee (CSC) as well as various committees and commissions.

Dr. Smith is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing, golfing, creative writing, distilling spirits for his Blind Man’s Bluff Brand, and serving on the MIIR Board of Directors and as science advisor to the company.
